The Morton Family Blog

Thanks for taking time and stopping by and reading our family blog. As a family of 6 we are busy and hope to encourge everyone to understand that everyone is different in his or her own way and that people shouldn't be looked at for their size but for their selves. Our youngest daughter Jalinn was born with dwarfism and we hope to raise awareness for the Little People community.

Summer Birthday's

Taylor turned 12 in May..where did the time go?  She is almost a teenager.  For her birthday this year she wanted to have a sleep over with a few friends and have a spa party.  The girls got a facial, waxed their hands and I tie dyed the girls nails.

Hunter turned 5 in June and we had a family birthday party for him at the park  He had a few friends come and the kids had a water fight with sponges that I made from Pinterest.  Grandpa Morton even got in on the water fight with Hunter's new water gun.

Our finally summer birthday was Kaylie and she turned 9...I can't believe all my babies are growing up.  Kaylie wanted to have a low key birthday with her best friend so we headed to Paradise Park for some fun.

An update finally from Spring to Summer

I hoped back in March that I would be back to blogging but that didn't happen.  So now it is time to get caught up. Easter was great as always, love spending time with the family.  This summer was busy like all summers we went to the new LEGO land, the zoo and alot of park and swimming time.  My goddaughter Brittany came home from England after 7 years and it was great to see her and meet your boyfriend Luke that is a great guy.  I hope to see them next year when they came home again for a visit.  Then we meet up with Jason's cousin Melaine and her 2 kiddo's.  We have not seen them for about 11 years so it was great to meet up with them too.

Here comes the pictures.

Finally back to blogging

I have taken a long break from blogging...we have had a lot going on lately as always but I just don't seem to find the time to sit back and blog.

This winter as been so nice.  We have had a little amount of snow and I mean little..like only 2 inches.  Last year we had to much that the kids where out of school for a whole week.  We have had no snow days at all this year.  This weather is crazy.  Today it is going to be in the 70's in March.  I can't believe it.

The kids are all doing great.  Here is a quick update on them all.

Taylor is getting ready to head into 7th grade next year.  She was so nervous about taking her math placement test and thought she did horrible but she didn't she is going into Pre-Algebra next year.  She is excited about that and so are we.  We knew she could do it.

Kaylie is getting ready for soccer to start up next week and doing great in school as always.

Hunter is going great in preschool and loves it.  I can't believe in 2 weeks I will be enrolling him for Kindergarten.   It doesn't seem possible to have a kindergarten again.

Jalinn is doing so great too.  We had her re-evaluation for First Steps and now she only needs PT and OT every 3 months.  She is still getting speech every week.  She is still lacking in the speech department but we are working on it everyday.  She now has her own little attitude about everything.  If she doesn't want to do it she will cross her arms and put her head down.  It is the cutest things.  She is now into throwing fits too when she doesn't get something she wants.  The fun times are just head of us.

Here are a few pictures for over the weekend out at our property that we will be building a house of hopefully sooner then later. Kaylie was not with us she was having fun with Grandma and Grandpa this weekend.

Christmas 2011

I hope everyone had a great Christmas this year. The Morton's had a great Christmas. On Christmas Eve we always let the kids opening 1 gift plus they also get their Christmas PJ's to wear that night.

We all woke up around 7:15am and went into the living room to see what Santa had left. Before we opened presents this year Taylor read us the story of Jesus birth. I am so proud of her she has blossomed so much in her faith and it makes me so happy. The old kids where happy to see new bikes and Jalinn's got a little people princess castle. Once we opened all the present they played for a while and then it was off. We went o my parents house to see them and my sister, brother in law and my sweet nephew Brycen. Once done there we headed to the in laws and this year Jason's brother was in town from Alabama so all the grandkids on the Morton side of the family where here. Then we headed over to Aunt Kathy's and the Grandma Rough's to see the rest of the families. It is a busy day but is so worth seeing all the family on this special day.

Jalinn's 2nd Birthday

Jalinn's turned 2 on December 23rd.  I can't believe my baby is 2 already.  We have had a busy 2 years with her from just learning about dwarfism, doctor appts and feeling like I know more then the doctor's sometimes, surgery's, therapy appts  and meeting some of the most wonderful people.  I know that I have said this before but I am so grateful for my POLP family for all that you have done for us over the last 2 years.  You all have taught me so much and I can't thank you all enough for it.  You all hold a special place in my heart.

I took Jalinn in on her 2 birthday for her 2 year check up and she is doing great.  She is 30 inches long, weighs 22.8 pounds and her head is 54 cm.  Her peds doctor is so happy with all of her improvements.  She is now only doing PT every 3 months instead of 2 a month.  We are still working on the speech but we know it will come in time.

We had her birthday party the weekend before her actual birthday and of course everyone came to help celebrate her special day.  Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate Jalinn's 2nd birthday.  We love you all very much!!!

Annual Cookie Bake

On December 23rd we had our annual cookie bake with my mom, my two sisters (Monica and Teresa) and all the kids.  Of course it was alot of fun and the kids always love to help.  I think they like licking the bowls and the icing from the cookies that they decorate.

Per Taylor she was doing what was told of her to clean the bowl..I don't think we mean that way.

The boys being boys

They are so cute!!!

Brycen's first time icing a cookie and he LOVED it!!!
