The Morton Family Blog

Thanks for taking time and stopping by and reading our family blog. As a family of 6 we are busy and hope to encourge everyone to understand that everyone is different in his or her own way and that people shouldn't be looked at for their size but for their selves. Our youngest daughter Jalinn was born with dwarfism and we hope to raise awareness for the Little People community.

Christmas 2011

I hope everyone had a great Christmas this year. The Morton's had a great Christmas. On Christmas Eve we always let the kids opening 1 gift plus they also get their Christmas PJ's to wear that night.

We all woke up around 7:15am and went into the living room to see what Santa had left. Before we opened presents this year Taylor read us the story of Jesus birth. I am so proud of her she has blossomed so much in her faith and it makes me so happy. The old kids where happy to see new bikes and Jalinn's got a little people princess castle. Once we opened all the present they played for a while and then it was off. We went o my parents house to see them and my sister, brother in law and my sweet nephew Brycen. Once done there we headed to the in laws and this year Jason's brother was in town from Alabama so all the grandkids on the Morton side of the family where here. Then we headed over to Aunt Kathy's and the Grandma Rough's to see the rest of the families. It is a busy day but is so worth seeing all the family on this special day.

Jalinn's 2nd Birthday

Jalinn's turned 2 on December 23rd.  I can't believe my baby is 2 already.  We have had a busy 2 years with her from just learning about dwarfism, doctor appts and feeling like I know more then the doctor's sometimes, surgery's, therapy appts  and meeting some of the most wonderful people.  I know that I have said this before but I am so grateful for my POLP family for all that you have done for us over the last 2 years.  You all have taught me so much and I can't thank you all enough for it.  You all hold a special place in my heart.

I took Jalinn in on her 2 birthday for her 2 year check up and she is doing great.  She is 30 inches long, weighs 22.8 pounds and her head is 54 cm.  Her peds doctor is so happy with all of her improvements.  She is now only doing PT every 3 months instead of 2 a month.  We are still working on the speech but we know it will come in time.

We had her birthday party the weekend before her actual birthday and of course everyone came to help celebrate her special day.  Thank you to everyone that came out to celebrate Jalinn's 2nd birthday.  We love you all very much!!!

Annual Cookie Bake

On December 23rd we had our annual cookie bake with my mom, my two sisters (Monica and Teresa) and all the kids.  Of course it was alot of fun and the kids always love to help.  I think they like licking the bowls and the icing from the cookies that they decorate.

Per Taylor she was doing what was told of her to clean the bowl..I don't think we mean that way.

The boys being boys

They are so cute!!!

Brycen's first time icing a cookie and he LOVED it!!!

Happy Halloween 2011

First I can't believe it is halloween time already.  Last year halloween was a blur to us.  It was the day that we got back in town from Jalinn's decompression surgery.  It has been a year since her surgery and I can't believe all the milestones that she has hit with the help of surgery and PT, OT and speech.  It amazes me everyday!!

Happy Halloween!!! I hope everyone had a fun and safe halloween!!!

Give me more candy!!!!

Halloween Party 2011

The girls have been bugging us for the last couple of years to have a Halloween party.  The hubby finally gave in this year.  They were all so excited!!  We told the girls that they could invite 3 to 4 friends each and as you can see from the pictures that didn't happen.  More girls showed up.  We needed up for 19 kiddo's.  The party was a blast.

I made some yummy treats: grave yard brownies, eyeballs and blooding toes.  The kids loved the grave yard brownies.  Thanks to my mom for coming over and helping out on getting the party ready.

Years ago Jason got a train horn from a job site he was on.  We have used it a couple of different times on halloween but since we moved we haven't used it at all and he was itching to use it.  He set it up so everyone anyone was walking to the door the horn would go off.  It took all the kids by surprise and they all jumped.  When a new car would pull up all the kids would look out the window to see the next kid jump.

Our friends Amy and Bill wanted to scare the kids more so with that we got all the kids in the living room and while Amy was reading them a scary story in the dark Bill came around the corner and scared the kids.  It was so funny to see all 19 kids take off running.

We played a few games but mostly they all danced and had a lot of fun.  By the end of the party my ears where ringing from the screaming all mostly all girls.  But in the end it was a great party.

Thanks to all the parents that let their kiddo's come over and hang out with us.
