The Morton Family Blog

Thanks for taking time and stopping by and reading our family blog. As a family of 6 we are busy and hope to encourge everyone to understand that everyone is different in his or her own way and that people shouldn't be looked at for their size but for their selves. Our youngest daughter Jalinn was born with dwarfism and we hope to raise awareness for the Little People community.

Hunter's 4th Birthday Party

I know I said this on Taylor's birthday post but I can't believe all my babies are growing up. Hunter turned 4 on June 14th. He is always on the go and always into something that he is not suppose to be into to. We are lucky we live in a small town now cause he can just go and play and have fun and I don't have to worry as much. I love him so much just like all my other kiddo's!!!

We had his birthday party this past Saturday at one of the local parks. It was so hot outside but at least we had a shade tree that everyone was able to sit or lay under. The playground equipment was almost to hot for the kids to even play on so no pictures of that. The theme of the party was batman and spiderman, he couldn't decide which one he wanted so we went with both. We had the spiderman pinta and the kids also at the feed the geese over at the lake. I think they all had a great time. Thank you all that came and enjoyed Hunter's special day.

Adenoids Part 2

Surgery was finally around 3:30pm. Even though it only took about 30 minutes it still feels forever. I don't think I will ever get used to that feeling of her being away from us. Once the surgery was over her doctors both said that everything went great and she was doing good. In the recovery room once she started to wake up she freaked out and they could not get her calmed down so they came and got me and I got to hold her. She calmed down right when I got my hands on her and so did I. It makes me cry when I see her in pain and that goes for all my kids. As a mom you don't want to see that. We finally got up to our room and she was doing much better. She ate 2 things of pudding and a cup of applesauce and a little later she had a grilled cheese and fries. She was one hungry girl. She did great all night long so we were able to leave the next morning.

Time for the adenoids to come out Part 1

When we got Jalinn's sleep study back a few months ago we discussed with her sleep doctor and her ENT doctor on what would be the best plan of action for Jalinn.  We concluded that taking out her adenoids would be the best option for right now since she has the middle sleep apnea and the asthma.  They are hoping with the adenoids gone she will be able to breathe alot better.  We also had to see an eye doctor since her eyes kept tearing up all the time and they concluded that she needed to have stints place in her tear ducts.  We were Lucky that both the ENT and eye doctor could do the surgery at the same time.

Yesterday was the surgery, we had to be at Children's Mercy Hospital at 1pm which for a long day but I think Jalinn knew something was going on.  She woke at 5:30am and was ready to eat.  She couldn't have any solids after 7am so I made her breakfast around 6am and she had 5 pancakes and 3 slices of pears.  She just kept eating and eating.  Once we arrived we was able to play for about 2 hours since they were delayed for an hour.  They needed to make sure they had a PICU bed ready for her after the surgery since we were staying the night just to be on the safe side.  Here are a few pics of her playing before surgery.

Here is a video of her playing and dancing

Taylor's 11th Birthday

Before Taylor notices that I forgot to blog about her birthday, I better do it soon.  She turned 11 on May 27th.  I can't believe my first baby is eleven, it doesn't seem possible.  She is so grown up and just a great big sister. This year for her party she had a few friends over to spend the night and I took the girls to go get pedicures and manicures done.  They had so much fun.

For her birthday present this year she wanted a phone and that is all she talked about it for the last couple of months.  So we gave in and got her one.  With her birthday being on a week day Jason wanted to give her the phone before he left for work at 5am and this is how it was done.  Enjoy the video..

Deanna Rose Farmstead with Kim and Eli

Last week we finally were able to meet up with Kim and Eli, it has been forever since we seen this last.  Eli has gotten so big and is so cute.  We meet up at Deanna Rose Farmstead it is a small farm that has over 200 animals with lots of things for the kids to do.  We love it there, plus it is FREE admission during the week which is a added bonus when you have 4 kiddos.  Here are a few pics from our trip.
